ATLANTA (June 12, 2009) – Piedmont Heart Institute welcomes Alan Taranto, M.D., to their medical team at Johnson Ferry. Dr. Taranto has nearly 40 years of experience and is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease through the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Taranto earned both his bachelor’s degree and medical degree at Emory University in Atlanta. He also completed his medical-surgical internship, internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Emory University affiliated hospitals. Prior to joining Piedmont Heart Institute, Dr. Taranto has served as a cardiology consultant and an attending physician at the Emory University School of Medicine. He has also held hospital appointments at Northside Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Taranto is a member of the American Heart Association and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. “Dr. Taranto is going to be an excellent addition to our team,” said Charles L. Brown III, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of Piedmont Heart Institute. “His extensive experience makes him an asset to the Piedmont Heart Institute, and his qualifications ensure that our patients will be receiving the highest quality of cardiovascular care.” Dr. Taranto accepts most major insurance plans and is accepting new patients.
